Wanda C. Kellyman, M.Ed, MS, NCC, LCMHCA, CTMH, CCATP

I hold a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from Winston Salem State University, a Graduate Certificate in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Kentucky, and a Master of Arts in Special Education from the University of Phoenix. I have successfully met the standards established by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NCC) and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) in the state of North Carolina.

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHC-A)

As a Mental Health Counselor, I offer guidance to individuals, couples, families and groups who are dealing with issues that affect their mental health and well-being by providing counseling services that help navigate emotional matters that make life difficult. I use a holistic approach which highlights and encourages client’s strengths.

Person-Centered Therapy

I use a person-centered approach when I meet with clients. The client leads the discussion to discover their own solutions. I will facilitate, while listening without judgment. My role in this process is to encourage and support you while guiding the therapeutic process without interrupting or interfering with the process of self-discovery.

Cognitive Behavioral

Therapy (CBT) Practitioner

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a common type of talk therapy. Sessions are structured with you attending a limited amount of sessions. CBT helps you become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so you can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way.

Expressive Arts Therapy

Expressive arts therapy combines psychology and the creative process to promote emotional growth and healing. I am not currently certified in expressive arts therapy, but as I attend graduate school to complete classes towards certification, I will utilize expressive art therapy techniques. Those techniques may include bibliotherapy, a therapeutic approach that uses literature to support good mental health, and mindfulness-based interventions.

Certified Mindfulness-Informed Clinician

Mindfulness-based interventions are therapeutic approaches that increase our ability to regulate emotions, decrease stress, anxiety, and depression. These interventions may be understood as the state in which one becomes more aware of one's physical, mental, and emotional condition in the present moment, without becoming judgmental. Strategies used in mindfulness-based interventions help individuals understand and manage their thoughts and emotions in order to achieve relief from feelings of distress.
